Bartonella can transfer DNA to a host human cell.

This work reports only the second bacterium species, Bartonella henselae, to be able to transfer DNA into eukaryotes. Previously, Agrobacterium tumefaciens was shown to transfer DNA into plants. B. henselae transfers DNA into human endothelial cells using also the well know type IV secretion system (T4SS) normally used for conjugative DNA transfer between bacteria or injection of proteins/toxins into host organisms.
