  1. Hi
I am French and my son (15 years ans 6 months) has the same scratches in his back, no worries, Those are many stretch marks; Because of the growth.
Look in the comments all the children are between 14 and 17 years old !!

  2. What is the chances of having two children nesarly five years apart and both children wind up having these strange marks appear on their back after age 10?

I had taken my daughter to a doctor over this year’s ago and believed it was only stretch marks as the doctor had said. She is almost 17 and these marks are still present.
My son is 12 year old now with these SAME MARKS that appeared out of no where!
Both of my children are ideal weight with no rapid weight gain during the first appearance of these “tiger stripes.”
I am concerned and now worried that they both may have something a little more serious than stretch marks.

  3. OMG!!! My 14 yr. old son’s back looks identical. The dermatologist said he has never seen this before. Now I am thinking of taking him to a pediatric dermatologist.
He complains of headaches but not too often, however he is always complaining of ringing/buzzing in his ears.
    Please give me some insight…
I am soo glad that I stumbled onto this website.

      1. thank you. I just put a call in to the pediatrician so hopefully we can get some bloodwork done and make sure that is or is not this. The more I read the more I am thinking this is what it is.

        1. Ok Kristina good.. just remember some of the testing for tick borne infections can be sketchy at best.. not very accurate and sometimes there are false negatives..

        2. Kristin, also you might want to look into Marfans and Cushings too. Both of these conditions can cause the stretch mark like rashes too.

  4. 2 years ago… (Summer 2012) I noticed a weird rash on my sons back. I took him to his pediatrician and he had never seen it…didn’t know what it was and didn’t seem concerned.i trusted him. Fast forward to today… A friend posted a picture of her sons back on Facebook. He was diagnosed with bartonella. Same rash my son has. We are sending him to a different doctor ASAP. He’s 19 and is interning in another state…so this is gonna be difficult but…is there a way I can post a picture so you all can see?

  5. MY SON HAS THESE MARKS HE HAD A FEW ( 3 TO 4) WHEN GOT THE SHINGLES A YEAR AGO.
NOW HE HAS THEM ALL OVER HIS BACK, THEY JUST SHOWED UP A FEW DAYS AGO.
TOOK HIM TO THE ER AND THE DOCTOR SAID IT WAS STRETCH MARKS…
HE DOESN’T EVEN WEIGH A 100 POUNDS. I TOLD HER I DIDN’T BELIEVE THAT THEY WHERE STRETCH MARKS, SO SHE GAVE ME A REFERRAL TO GO GET BLOOD WORK WITH A DISEASE SPECIALIST.
HE HAS AN APPT. ON 7/2/14. HE HAS SO MANY SYMPTOMS LIKE ANXIETY, HE HAS AN INFECTION IN HIS LYMPH NODES BEHIND HIS EAR AND IT TOOK 2 DIFFERENT MEDICATIONS TO GET RID OF IT, ALSO HE HAS A LOT OF STOMACH ISSUES AND WAS JUST PUT ON MEDS TO HELP HIM SLEEP.
PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME UNDERSTAND IF THIS IS BARTONELLA BECAUSE I THINK IT IS. MY GUT IS TELLING ME IT IS.
    THANK YOU

  6. My 16 year old son has same stretch marks on back. I would love to talk to anyone going through this. He is positive for lyme. He is on rifampin and minocycline for a month. Just starting Tindamax. Only symptoms are those marks. Anyone have similar situation?

  7. How do you use Essential Oils to treat Bartonella? My daughter has a severe case and has the same rash all over her body. She’s been treating for 6 years, so I’m looking for more options. Thanks.

      1. Kristin,
My 14 year old son’s back looks identical to that! He was treated for bartonella for 10 months and I’m concerned it wasn’t long enough. I would love to correspond with you to ask a few questions. How can I get in touch with you? I have my email address and I am on FB. Thank you so much!
