.) Empire State Lyme Disease Association has been working with a committee of NY Lyme leaders to get our Lyme Bill S7854/A7558B passed for almost two years now.
.) As you probably know, our bill did pass both NYS houses right before the June summer break. Several times since then, we’ve asked folks to urge Governor Cuomo to sign, but he still has not signed our bill. Although it passed unanimously, unfortunately, the Medical Society of the State of New York (MSSNY) and the New York State Association of County Health Officials (NYSACHO) wrote strong opposition letters against this bill.
.) Even so, before the November election, Governor Cuomo said he would sign it in January 2015, but that he would add a memo. We responded immediately by sending yet another email requesting that folks contact him to say, yes, please sign the bill, but that he absolutely not add an amendment!
.) We apologize as this is obviously not the first time we have asked you to contact Gov C. and if you already contacted him to ask that he sign with no amendments, many thanks; if not, please ask him to sign Lyme Bill S7854/A7558B without adding any amendment which would alter the original intent of this bill.
.) About contacting Governor Cuomo: The message now posted across the Internet may only give a Cuomo123 web site and this does get an electronically generated email to the governor’s office. Please note that Empire State Lyme Disease Association is not responsible for the Cuomo 123 web site, so we cannot guarantee privacy for anyone who signs onto it. A suitable alternative which has worked well in the past for contacting Governor Cuomo is below:
