According to ABC NY, An emerging tick-borne disease is starting to show up in Bridgeport and

Branford, CT. It is called the Powassan virus and it’s symptoms are similar to those of Lyme disease.
Symptoms include:
headache
nausea
fever
neurological symptoms
muscle wasting
memory problems
There’s no treatment for Powassan. In some cases, it can be fatal, said Dr. Theodore Andreadis, who heads The Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station.
In 2012 there were 12 human cases reported but there has not been any new studies done since then.
