Each day of May for Lyme Awareness Month in 2015, whatislyme.com would like to recognize someone in the Lyme community that has done something to try to help the Lyme community. There are several “unsung heroes” in our community and we would like to just offer them a little recognition and make sure that their achievements and efforts don’t go unnoticed.
Today we would like to thank Samantha!
In 2011 a Lyme Patient named Samantha had an idea.
She thought it would be a really good awareness campaign to have people replace their porch lightbulbs with green bulbs to “light up green” for Lyme Awareness month, which is every May. This idea grew and not only did people change there porch bulbs, but whole buildings lit up green!
And this is what happened… the world lit up green!
Several houses all over the US lit up green for May, Lyme awareness Month.
And Businesses…
It caught on and look what happened around the world!
Australia

So that was one little idea that turned into a huge activism campaign that now has been going for years!
But… Samantha does so much more then just this. She makes awesome posters for awareness…

So anyways, Samantha is one heck of a warrior and we would just like to thank her for all that she has done to promote Lyme awareness! And just to inspire you even more, Samantha is not only doing better, but she has a healthy little 1 year old running around now! It can happen, you can get better!
