December 22, 1953 –  October 6, 2015

Today we found out we lost another one on our Lyme community. Our condolences to Patrick’s friends and family.

A Little from his Obituary

“Rick was born on December 22, 1953, and grew up in Washington, DC, and became a proud Clipper at Oxon Hill High School. After attending Salisbury University, he taught school and earned degrees from Wharton, Georgetown and University of Tulsa.

He loved working with youth and taught at UVA, and worked in media with Bloomberg BNA and CQ Roll Call, and at the Close Up Foundation. Rick loved dogs and supporting life’s underdogs and many charities, including Arlington’s Yorktown High School and the American Cancer Society .

Rick was caring, always tried to help others and said he was blessed that so many helped him along the way.

Rick had a strong heart, and ran the Boston Marathon and his beloved Marine Corps Marathon many times, crossing the finish line at his favorite place, the Iwo Jima Memorial, with a beautiful view of his city.”

my heartfelt sympathies to you all on your loss of patrick.

i read the entire obituary; it was so impressive of what he had accomplished to date.

his students were so lucky to have him as a teacher.

also, his marathon running was a goal for all who knew him.

i never knew him; just learning of him thru this article on him.
