A little about Anastiscia:
Lake Tahoe, Nevada artist Anastiscia’s life is as vibrantly colored as her artwork. She started
out drawing at a young age, but abandoned art classes due to disliking being told what to
draw. She set out on a path of self taught experimentation from that point on, to present day
Her life experiences have taken her off the beaten path and she has lived in Canada, Japan,
and Cambodia and travelled and worked extensively throughout the USA. She has dabbled
in fashion design, handbag design and poetry. Her various beautiful encounters with different
people and cultures have been a blessing and were often expressed in her past art
work. She incorporated into her original works a variety of recycled materials, quotes from
inspirational people and remarks from people encountered in her travels. She focused on
environmental, humanitarian issues and aspects of strength, love, encouragement, faith,
hope, pain and despair—-all aspects of life.
Her artwork went dormant when she contracted Lyme disease in 2008 and was left
debilitated, violently ill and misdiagnosed until 2013. Through love and encouragement and a
new sense of purpose, her artwork has revived, bolder and more expressive than ever.
Hailing from Toronto, Canada, she relocated to Lake Tahoe, Nevada with her newlywed
husband in June of 2015. Lake Tahoe opened her eyes and spurred her imagination to a
world of unbelievable beauty and tales of adventurous history.
“A deep sense of serenity overcame me as I stared in rapture at the expanse of varied clear, blue-green that lay before me. Rays of lights danced delicately across the lake. The rippled water ran right intorocky crevices, caressing the rocks. Around the edges were pines, chaotic in their spacing but never more than a few feet without a tree. Majestic mountains soared toward the open blue skies. Mountain tops with craggy grey faces steeped in pride. The distinguished beauty that God had painted for man to enjoy here was a timeless and limitless piece of heaven.” A Chantler-Lang In her MIX MASH of expression and style, she uses pastel, oil pastel, markers, acrylic, water based paints, charcoal and pencil to convey her feelings and experiences.
