On May 10 & 11th, the United States held several protests to raise awareness for Lyme Disease. They were 1 in 30 countries to protest on this weekend for the Worldwide Lyme Disease Awareness Protest. There were so many events that we have not even counted yet as news is still coming in from different states that did them.
As the US coordinator, I have to thank each and every state coordinator and volunteer that helped make this event such a success. Each person was sick with tick-borne infections, but still pulled the strength together to put together an event in their state to help others. Thank you to all who pulled this together and thank you to all who showed up at these events. I know either job is hard when you feel like you can’t even get out of bed each morning. I can’t thank you enough.
Thank you to all the Lyme foundations who helped us too:
thank you for collecting donations, and providing support to the WWLP so that we could get green light bulbs to pass out to people for the “Samantha’s green light project. Also for the supportive phone calls to help keep us moving along!
Thank you for printing two articles about the Worldwide Lyme Protest. We really appreciated that. Also thank you for providing your newspapers in general which are always full of great articles! We passed them out in Chicago to the public.
Thank you for being our official cheerleader! Thanks for all the work you did surrounding New York and getting the word out about this protest. (I think I finally spelled your name right. 😉 Your wondeful speech can be found here.
Lyme patients gathered to support educating medical staff and the public about Lyme Disease. We supplied Lyme Diseaese Brochures, Tick Kits and other info to passerby or any medical staff that would like to come talk to us.
Yolanda Foster from, “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” even showed up to show support by gathering with Lyme Patients and passing out Lyme Info.
Georgia Lyme Disease Association has digital billboards in key locations all over Atlanta this month to promote Lyme and Tick-Borne Disease Awareness. We thank CBS Outdoor for partnering with us in our efforts to prevent tick bites and educate the public and medical providers about tick-borne diseases because they can devastate people’s lives if not recognized and treated in time. May is Lyme Disease Awareness Month and May 10 & 11 are WORLDWIDE LYME DISEASE AWARENESS DAYS! Please help us spread the word and educate others!
